Amelia S. Core, 91, of Little Indian Creek Road, Core passed away Thursday, March 4, 2010 at Sundale Nursing Home. She was born March 19, 1918 in Rivesville, WV. She was one of ten children born to the late Michael and Mary Cingel Spevock Sr. and was the last surviving member of her family. Amelia was a homemaker and had been active in the Core Senior Center and the Core Community Association. She was an active person, who loved gardening, canning, quilting, and reading. Amelia is survived by her daughter Susan Kish and husband Alex of Core, nieces and nephews, Margaret and Ray Collins, Robert Spevock, Deloris and Al Polis, Nicholas Spevock, Judith Riggs, Lauren Riggs, Michael Spevock and Christine and John Fazio, as well as several great-nieces and nephews. Amelia was also preceded in death by her husband Leland Lemley Core in 1980, nephews, George Spevock, Steve Spevock Jr., Frank Spevock, the family historian, and Lawrence Riggs Jr., and a niece, Julia Clutter. The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to Evergreen Assisted Living, Sundale Nursing Home, Monongalia General Hospital and TLC Hospice for their compassionate care and assistance. Friends may call from 2-4 & 6-8 PM Sunday at the McCulla Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday at the McCulla Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Teter officiating.
